Our association members workforce have been trained in the specialized categories listed below to earn the following certifications for the benefit of their customers. When choosing a member company for your next project be sure to ask our member companies about their special certifications and how they specifically benefit your project. 'Our members invest in continuous training' is just ONE of the reasons you should always choose a Colorado Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors member.
Current safety training is a requirement on many construction jobs. It is considered so important that OSHA training is the first class our apprentices attend. Colorado requires that public water systems be protected from contamination from a private source. Backflow preventers provide this protection and must be certified annually by a trained technician. The CFC and HCFC Recovery and Reclamation Certification class has been developed to give Journeymen employed in the mechanical equipment servicing field specific information on new laws pertaining to the purchase, use and handling of CFC and HCFC refrigerants. Since November 14, 1994, EPA-Approved Section 608 certification is needed to service building air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Four types of certification are available. Only CERTIFIED TECHNICIANS can purchase refrigerants. Train individuals to become familiar with how to recognize and care for victims of illness and sudden injuries. As you probably know, the lack of professional, high quality, job-site supervision can make or break a project. Un-qualified, uncommitted on the job supervision can prove very costly and will certainly negatively affect the quality and the life-cycle of the project. In order to assure our customers of getting the JOB DONE RIGHT the first time our contractor members have their Foremen attend our mandatory Foremen training and certification course. This 42 hour course includes hands on role playing with practical on the job type training exercises, time management, people management and motivation/discipline skills and overall leadership training. This training for the supervision at our contractor members companies helps assure our customers of delivery of a project that is on time, on budget and worry free. This highly specialized training is used to lift, move, and transport large and heavy piping, air quality machinery, and heating / cooling units. In today's competitive environment rigging is a key factor in the continued productivity of a buildings operations and the heath and safety of the worker. Industrial rigging, in particular, is a major focus for electric utilities, oil refineries, manufacturing plants, paper mills and chemical plants. The Medical Gas Systems are installed in health care facilities from dental offices to hospitals. They deliver anesthetic gas, power for equipment, oxygen and breathable air. Trained technicians maintain a two-part certification; one to install the systems per the most recent National Fire Protection Act codes and one to ensure that the connections will provide the highest level of purity and protection. PE Fusion is a process for joining polyethylene (plastic) pipe. Polyethylene pipe is used to, among other things, distribute natural gas. Utilities companies require that workers involved with the installation of polyethylene pipe attend classes and receive a certification through the utility. Colorado has a mandatory practice act, which means that professionals cannot practice or represent themselves as a Plumber in the state without a Colorado Plumbing License. There are nearly 100 different certifications used to join metals such as copper, stainless steel, mild steel, aluminum, and steel that contains high chromium. Our member contractors pre-qualify employees for jobs that require certified welders and brazers. The Welder Certification Program is a uniform pre-hire welder certification program to the mechanical piping industry. It is designed to meet the growing need for experienced, high-quality welders and the welding needs of owners and managers of industrial plants and facilities, as well as renovate and maintain these facilities.
